If the day were just another day I would have deleted them and moved on but it was spectacular there and I want the photos. I really "Botched" my Grand Canyon shoot this fall, and to use a photographic term, the photos came out Crummy.
I was looking for info on Luminar when I came across this post

But there's so much more possible once I figure how to take advantage of the masking and layering tools.Įdited by lomitamike - 18 January 2019 at 01:37
I've done some editing and I am pleased with the results so far. Coming from aperture, On1 seems to be more complex with more options available to the user. My first impression of On1 2019 is that the learning curve is going to take a while. I will be moving it to an external drive as soon as I decide where I want to keep things. It gets my highest recommendation for anyone who wants to leave aperture and has a library they want to preserve.įortunately, I have enough room on my new mac to keep aperture and its library for the time being. The best way to keep an organized library and save all the time you spent editing photo's in aperture. You can select photo's you have rated with one to five stars to be duplicated in either JPEG or TIFF with all edits made and metadata. AE creates a library with the same file structure you have set up in aperture. I'm starting a new year with a new iMac and new library using On1 2019 as a stand alone processor.Īs for my aperture library: I ended up purchasing an app called Aperture Exporter. It was time for a new mac so I waited until I got the new mac setup before I downloaded On1 2019. I may try ON1 RAW again now that a new version is out, but if it takes more than 30s to load a single RAW file its not even a viable consideration for me.I finally made the conversion. I imagine I could learn the new ways to do things in ON1 RAW, but at least the last time I tested it, it would drastically slow down my workflow and for those times I need to use PS, its for high paying commercial jobs where I need specialized tools that are in PS to get the job done not saying ON1 RAW couldn't do it, but to me its not worth the risk.
#ON1 PHOTO RAW FORUM SOFTWARE#
I shoot large events and frequently need to turn around hundreds or thousands of images within 12hrs to include RAW processing, sorting, tagging, multiple aspect ratios, and final delivery my current software workflow includes Paint.Net, FastStone, Lightroom, and PhotoShop.ON1 RAW isn't even an option to me due to the performance issues alone. I also occasionally need to do some advanced editing in PS and since I don't do some of the specialized editing very often I lookup the process on YouTube or the Internet where there is a huge community based support structure in place. The performance was terrible (up to 60 seconds to load a single raw image), I did not find an easy way to synch adjustments from a source image to thousands of other images at once, and the interface just wasn't as intuitive or user friendly as Lightroom. I have tried ON1 RAW a few times and simply did not find it would work for me.

I am also quite thankful that I was able to replace Premier Pro with Davinci Resolve, but have yet to find a real replacement for Lightroom + PS. About once a year I get completely fed up with paying the Adobe fees and look for viable Lightroom and PS alternatives each year I conclude nothing comes close and stick with LR and PS.
